DC Bear and DC Bear Cub Contest Information:

The contest for the titles of Mr. DC Bear and Mr. DC Bear Cub will be held Saturday night from 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM in the Federal Hall at The Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel.

There will be 3 parts to the contest:

Round 1 - "Bear" Wear and "Bare" Wear:

In the first part of the contest, the contestants (Bears and Cubs) will be brought up on stage one by one, wearing their best "summer" wear, which could be anything you'd wear when going out during the summer. Think of what you might wear to a Bill's Filling Station in Ft. Lauderdale (but not necessarily Haulover Beach!). The Judges will score you on a scale of 1 - 10 in each of the following categories:

• Initial Woof!
• Originality of Outfit
• Stage Presence
• Audience Appeal
• Overall Impression

After that, the contestants will be brought up in their skimpiest (legal) outfits, so we may admire their bearishness in all it's furry beauty. The Judges will again score you on a scale of 1 - 10 in each of the following, slightly different, categories:

• Chest/Belly
• Butt
• Legs
• Audience Appeal
• Overall Impression

Then the Judges scores will be tallied up, and the 2 top scoring Bears and the 2 top scoring Cubs will be announced as Finalists, who will be moving on to the next round.

Round 2 - Collecting Charitable Donations:

The 4 Finalists (2 Bears and 2 Cubs) will each be given a bucket and will have 20 minutes to work the crowd and get as many charitable donations as they can. Points are awarded for the order in which your collected donations total up - 50 points for the Bear who collects the most cash, and 40 points for the bear with the second most. Same thing applies for the Cubs - 50 points for the most and 40 for the second most. All Finalists then move on to the next round.

Round 3 - The Final Question:

Each Finalist will be given a question to answer, demonstrating their ability to speak in public. The Judges will again score you on a scale of 1 - 10 in each of the following categories:

• Demeanor
• Confidence
• Question Response
• Audience Appeal
• Overall Impression

After that the Judges' scores are tallied up, and we have ourselves a new Mr. DC Bear 2008 and Mr. DC Cub 2008!

The contest is supposed to be fun for both the contestants and the audience, so have the best time you can, relax and enjoy yourselves thoroughly.
